MTU Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (MSM), previously known as Diesel Product and Support (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (DPS) was incorporated on June 24, 1981 to supply MTU parts to users. With MTU engines in existence in Malaysia since the 1960s and formed the majority of the engine population in the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), the company was given the confidence to solely distribute the products in the country with the award of the MTU Franchise by MTU Friedrichshafen in March 1984.

The founder of the company, Dato' Hj Mahamad Fathil bin Dato' Mahmood owned 40% of DPS at the time of its incorporation, with another 45% held by Cycle & Carriage Bintang Berhad, the local distributor of Mercedes-Benz, while the remaining 15% was held by MTU Singapore Pte Ltd, now known as MTU Asia Pte Ltd.Over the years, Dato' Fathil gradually increased his share to 61% (direct and indirect holding) and  renamed the firm MTU Services (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in 1995.

Over 24 years of operations our clientele has grown from our most important customers, the Royal Malaysian Navy to other major clients namely the Marine Police Force, the Royal Malaysian Customs, Department of Marine Malaysia and the newly formed Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency.

In recent years, our major achievement is our successful penetration into the highly competitive commercial sector and the lucrative oil and gas markets. Numerous projects were secured and partnership forged with customers such as Malaysia Airlines Systems, Malaysia Airports Berhad, Petronas Carigali Sdn Bhd, Esso Malaysia Berhad, Radicare (M) Sdn Bhd, PROPEL Berhad, Federal Land Development Authority (FELDA), Sarawak Shell Berhad, Langkawi Ferries Services, Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad, among others.

With the combination of MTU Friedrichshafen, Germany with Detroit Diesel Corporation USA and VM Motori of Italy, MSM as other distributors around the world have a wider range of products with a wider range of power to offer. MTU today has become a world leader in marine, rail, power generation, military vehicles, construction, agriculture, mining industries and oil & gas applications. MSM is the only sole recognised agent of MTU in Malaysia with the exceptional know-how and the capability to offer comprehensive products and customer support to MTU users in Malaysia and Brunei.

EXPERIENCE AND EXPERTISE

In 1994, a new MSM Service Centre was built in Manjung, Perak with a staff force of 148 employees to perform complete major engine overhauls. Our technical specialists are trained in Germany and in MTU Asia, all of whom are highly qualified with many years of experience and are capable of conducting training courses for customers with comprehensive training modules. The Service Centre is supported by a dynamic marketing and support team in its headquarters in Dataran Prima, Petaling Jaya.

A NEW ERA, A NEW CAPABILTY

In 2005, MSM was awarded the contract to manage the maintenance of MMEA assets. An In-Service Support Division was formed to ensure availability of vessels to meet the operational needs of MMEA. With 7 regional and district offices across Malaysia, the division is manned by technical specialists, project engineers and project managers who plan the maintenance schedules and outsource maintenance works to shipyards and OEMS, always ensuring the highest quality of maintenance works.

The project also generate new business opportunities for the development of documentation, configuration management as well as condition and health monitoring of engines and other products.

PRECISION MACHINING

MSM's subsidiary, Motor Teknologi & Industri Sdn Bhd (MTI) offer precision machining services for all diesel engine components, remanufacturing of diesel engines for all makes and models, testing of lower range diesel engines and refurbishment of commercial and industrial vehicle and equipment. MTI is a member of the consortium formed within MSM to manage the maintenance of MMEA assets.
